Tasting notes

Light red colour. Aromas of sour cherry and sweet spice with a subtle oak nuance from 4 months in French barriques. The palate has a medium-structured body, firm tannins and bright acidity, finishing with a strongly expressed sour cherry note. A fragrant, food-friendly indigenous red.

About this wine

Bononia Estate Gamza is made from one of Bulgaria's oldest indigenous red grapes, grown in the far north-west of the country near Vidin on the Danube. Gamza is a light, fragrant variety at home in the Danubian Plain, and Bononia Estate is one of the leading wineries of the area.

The wine has a light red colour and an inviting nose of sour cherry and spice. On the palate it shows a medium-structured body with firm tannins and a strongly expressed sour cherry note on the finish. It spent 4 months in French barriques, which add a touch of polish without hiding the fruit.

Serve at 16–18 °C with poultry, pork, charcuterie and pasta dishes.
