Tasting notes

Garnet red with orange glints. A very fruity, elegant and intense nose of red cherry, raspberry, rose and liquorice. The palate is full, powerful and well balanced, with fine-grained tannins and a long, spicy finish. Ageing potential of 10 to 25 years.

About this wine

Villero is a small 0.62-hectare vineyard in Castiglione Falletto, in the centre of the Barolo zone, owned by the Mascarello family since 1985. The Nebbiolo was planted in 1988 on a south-west-facing slope at 280 metres, on clay-sandy calcareous soils of grey marl, brown clay and grey marine sand.

Giuseppe Mascarello e Figlio has made wine in Piedmont since 1881 and follows a traditional approach: fermentation with a floating cap for 15–20 days, about 30 months in medium-sized Slavonian oak casks and release four years after the harvest.

A very fruity, elegant and intense Barolo with 10 to 25 years of ageing potential.
