Tasting notes

Bright ruby with violet tints. Aromas of red cherry, raspberry, peony and violet with a light spicy touch. The palate is silky and juicy, with fine tannins, fresh acidity and a clean, floral finish. Serve slightly below room temperature in a large glass, letting it breathe briefly to reveal its full aromatic range.

About this wine

Jean and Agnès Foillard took over the family estate in Villié-Morgon in 1980 and are now among the most respected names in Beaujolais. Together with Marcel Lapierre, Jean-Paul Thévenet and Guy Breton they formed the so-called "Gang of Four", inspired by Jules Chauvet's ideas on natural wine.

The vineyards are farmed organically, fermentation uses whole bunches through carbonic maceration, and sulphur is added sparingly, only before bottling. This Fleurie comes from parcels in the La Madone and Grille Midi lieux-dits and shows the floral, silky side of Gamay from one of the most charming Beaujolais crus.
