Tasting notes

Medium-intensity ruby, almost translucent. The nose is refined, with flowers, red fruit and spice. The palate is balanced and long, with fine tannins and pleasant balsamic notes on the finish.

About this wine

Tenuta Mara is a Demeter-certified biodynamic estate on the hills south of Rimini, at San Clemente in Romagna. Maramia is its Sangiovese, made with minimal intervention: no added yeasts and no temperature control.

The grapes are picked by hand, sorted on a table and fall by gravity into conical oak vats, where they stay on the skins for about a month. The wine then ages for 16 months on its fine lees in French oak barrels and tonneaux, followed by a period in bottle.

The 2015 is a refined, expressive Sangiovese from the Adriatic side of Italy.
