Tasting notes

Deep, dark ruby. Aromas of blackberry, plum, cocoa and dried herbs. Medium-full body with soft, mature tannins, gentle freshness and a smooth, slightly herbal finish.

About this wine

Marselan is a relatively new French grape, a crossing of Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache created in 1961 and loved for its deep colour and soft tannins. Rupel grows it in the Struma Valley in south-western Bulgaria.

The 2015 from the Gramatik line is now mature, with blackberry, plum, cocoa and dried herbs. A rare variety in Bulgaria and a smooth, approachable red with plenty of character.

Serve at 16–18 °C with roast meat or mature cheeses.
