Tasting notes

Deep ruby. Ripe plum, blackcurrant and black cherry on the nose, with a hint of cocoa and sweet spice. The palate is round and soft, with ample fruit, low acidity and smooth, melting tannins. The finish is warm and gently fruity.

About this wine

Moulin de Gassac is the varietal and everyday range of Mas de Daumas Gassac, the Languedoc estate that changed how the Hérault was regarded. Grapes come from partner growers on the limestone and schist slopes around Aniane.

This Merlot is fermented in stainless steel at controlled temperature with a short maceration, then kept away from oak so the variety's plummy fruit and soft texture come through unimpeded.

It is a generous, approachable red that needs no cellaring and asks nothing of the drinker.
