Tasting notes

Bright ruby red. The nose shows rose petals, black cherry and small red berries, with a mineral hint and light spice from the oak. The palate is medium-bodied and fruity, with soft, rounded tannins, good freshness and a clean, persistent finish.

About this wine

Granmassenti is Feudo Disisa's tribute to Perricone, a rare native red grape of western Sicily. The Disisa estate lies between the Belice and Jato valleys, and the Di Lorenzo family has owned it for almost two hundred years.

The wine comes from young vines, which give a fruitier profile and softer tannins than the variety is usually known for. It matures for 12 months in oak barrels, followed by two further months in bottle before release, under the Monreale DOC.

Together with the white Lu Bancu, it is linked to a family legend about a treasure hidden in the Disisa mansion: a characterful Sicilian red with a story to tell.
