Tasting notes

Deep ruby red. The nose offers blackberry, plum and black cherry with balsamic notes, sweet spice and a hint of tobacco. The palate is soft and mineral, with elegant, well-integrated tannins, great balance and a long, lingering finish.

About this wine

Piano di Montevergine is the flagship Taurasi Riserva of Feudi di San Gregorio, the Irpinia winery founded in 1986 in Sorbo Serpico that has become a benchmark for the great native wines of Campania.

Made from 100% Aglianico from selected vineyards of the Taurasi appellation, the 2017 vintage matured for 18 to 24 months in French oak barriques and medium-toasted 50-hectolitre casks, followed by a further 24 months in bottle before release.

Deep, layered and age-worthy, it expresses the power and elegance of Aglianico at its finest: a wine for important dinners and for the cellar.
