Tasting notes

Intense ruby red. The nose shows redcurrant and marasca cherry, completed by balsamic tones and tobacco. The palate is concentrated yet soft and fresh, with fine, elegant tannins and a long, persistent finish.

About this wine

Podere dei Blumeri is the Schiopetto estate in Friuli where, in 2000, the family launched a new vineyard project after careful study of the local microclimate and soils. This red blend, part of the Mario Schiopetto line, has been made since the 2001 vintage.

It combines the softness of Merlot with the character of Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, the authentic native red grape of Friuli. Fresh yet intense, it shows how the region's reds can match its famous whites. The three-litre Jeroboam makes a spectacular centrepiece for large celebrations.
