Tasting notes

Bright colour with deep violet reflections. The nose offers blackberry and blueberry with a touch of cinnamon and oak. The palate is full-bodied with a firm structure, dark red fruit, well-integrated tannins and a long, persistent finish.

About this wine

Prelius is the line of wines that the family behind Castello di Volpaia makes in the Maremma, at the Prile estate. The vines grow on a hill beside the ancient Lake Prelius, about eight kilometres from the sea and overlooking the Tuscan islands, on sandy soils with clay and gravel.

The vineyards were planted between 2001 and 2004 and the grapes are organically grown. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon ages six months in 30-hectolitre French oak casks, which frame the fruit without masking it.

A coastal Cabernet with ripe dark fruit, a firm frame and real Mediterranean character.
