Tasting notes

Deep ruby red with garnet hints. The nose offers ripe plum, small black and red berries and violet, with sweet spice from oak ageing. The palate is warm, full and enveloping, with delicate, well-integrated tannins and a long, spicy finish.

About this wine

Terrecarsiche 1939 is a family winery in Castellana Grotte, south-east of Bari, working since 1939 mainly with Puglia's native grape varieties on the karst limestone plateau of the Murgia.

Fanova is its Primitivo Riserva from the Gioia del Colle appellation, the cooler, higher inland home of the grape, where Adriatic breezes and limestone soils give Primitivo more freshness and finesse than on the coast. Made from 100% Primitivo from low-yielding vines and aged for at least two years before release, as the Riserva rules require.

Fanova reflects the folklore and history of Castellana Grotte, where fire plays a central role in local tradition: a warm, enveloping red with great depth.
