Tasting notes

Deep ruby. Very ripe blackberry, plum and fig with cracked pepper and orange peel, followed by smoke, tobacco, leather and balsamic notes. Full-bodied, with firm tannins, great complexity and a long finish.

About this wine

Produttori di Manduria is a cooperative in Manduria, Puglia, officially founded in 1932, uniting around 400 growers known as the "masters of Primitivo" and close to 900 hectares of mostly alberello bush vines.

Sonetto is the cooperative's flagship wine. It comes from alberello vines more than 90 years old, cropped at a low yield of about 45 quintals per hectare. After fermentation at 22-24 °C the wine macerates on the skins for three weeks and then ages for 24 months in French barriques.

A Riserva of real depth and complexity, it shows how far old-vine Primitivo di Manduria can go.
