Tasting notes

Deep ruby red. The nose shows ripe dark cherry, plum and sweet spice with hints of Mediterranean herbs. The palate unites the firm structure and elegance of Sangiovese with the softness and roundness of Merlot, with velvety tannins and a long, warm finish.

About this wine

Tenuta Luce lies in Montalcino and was born in the mid-1990s from the meeting of Vittorio Frescobaldi and Robert Mondavi. The Frescobaldi family had already planted Merlot in Montalcino in the 1970s, and Luce became the first blend of Sangiovese and Merlot ever created in the area.

The vineyards face south-west on the slopes near the village, where altitude and cool nights allow slow, complete ripening. The wine combines the structure and elegance of Sangiovese with the softness and roundness of Merlot.
