Tasting notes

Intense ruby red. Blackberry and cherry on the nose, with chocolate and hints of aromatic herbs. Round and full on the palate, fresh, with sweet tannins.

About this wine

Le Difese is the youngest wine of Tenuta San Guido, the Bolgheri estate of Sassicaia, first released with the 2002 vintage. It blends Cabernet Sauvignon grown on the estate with Sangiovese (70% and 30% in recent vintages); the name refers to the wild boar tusks shown in gold on the label.

After fermentation in stainless steel, the wine ages for several months in French oak barriques previously used for Sassicaia and Guidalberto. Smooth, fresh and versatile, it is made to be enjoyed young and with food. This listing is the 2019 vintage.
