Tasting notes

Brilliant ruby red. Intense and elegant, with black fruit, red flowers, spice and graphite. Deep, complex and persistent on the palate, with ripe tannins.

About this wine

Le Pergole Torte is the celebrated pure Sangiovese of Montevertine, at Radda in Chianti, from historic vineyards planted between 1968 and 1999. Each vintage carries a label painted by the artist Alberto Manfredi.

Fermentation lasts about 25 days in cement tanks, where malolactic fermentation also takes place; the wine then ages 12 months in Allier barriques, 12 months in Slavonian oak casks and about three months in bottle. This listing is the 2017 vintage.
