Tasting notes

Bright straw yellow. Pineapple, white peach, hawthorn and orange blossom on the nose, with aromatic herbs. Balanced and savoury on the palate, fresh and citrusy, with a soft, persistent finish.

About this wine

Grottaia Vermentino is the white wine of Caccia al Piano, in Bolgheri, made from Vermentino grown at Le Bozze, the estate's vineyard closest to the sea, on sandy soils.

In 2020 the harvest began in early September after a mild winter and a warm, dry spring. The bunches were picked by hand into 15 kg crates and pressed whole; the must fermented for two weeks at 12-14 °C in stainless steel, and the wine matured on its lees for several months before bottling the following spring. This listing is the 2020 vintage.
