Tasting notes

Deep red with purple hues. The nose shows wild berries and dark cherry with a distinct note of vanilla. The palate is velvety and rounded, with soft tannins, ripe fruit and a persistent, gently spiced finish.

About this wine

Varvaglione is a winery in Leporano near Taranto, in Puglia, that combines the region's traditional native grapes with modern winemaking.

The "12 e Mezzo" range takes its name from the wines' alcohol content of 12.5% and offers a lighter, juicier take on the grapes of Salento. This Negroamaro goes through malolactic fermentation and is then aged in oak and in bottle.

Deep in colour, velvety and rounded, the 2018 is a generous southern red with a gentle vanilla touch, easy to pair with everyday Italian dishes.
