Tasting notes

Straw yellow with golden highlights. The nose shows wildflowers, peach, medlar and golden apple. The palate is rich and velvety, balanced by freshness and a savoury, saline streak, with a dry and fruity finish. Notes of almond and aniseed, typical of the grape, come through on the long finish.

About this wine

"Casal di Serra" is the iconic Verdicchio of Umani Ronchi, one of the leading estates of the Marche. Made since 1983, it has appeared in the Wine Spectator Top 100.

The organic grapes come from vineyards on both banks of the Esino valley, at 200–350 metres, on deep clay and sandy soils. After fermentation the wine spends around five months on its lees in stainless steel, which builds texture while keeping the freshness of the grape.

It is a rich, velvety yet saline Verdicchio and a benchmark for the appellation.
