Tasting notes

Fine acidity and a phenolic note that gives the wine great seriousness, with earthy, stony and spicy notes. Structure, texture, transparency and clarity prevail over opulent fruit; despite its age the wine feels only at its beginning.

About this wine

Vinothek is the legendary late-release wine of Nikolaihof, Austria's oldest winery and a biodynamic pioneer since 1971. The 1995 Vinothek was the first dry white wine ever rated 100 points by Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.

This 2008 Riesling comes from old vines in the Im Weingebirge vineyard, on amphibolite, loess and paragneiss, where Saint Severin retreated to pray over 1,500 years ago. It spent more than 15 years on fine lees in wooden casks and was bottled in April 2024.

Stony, spicy and deeply structured. Serve at 11–13 °C.
