Tasting notes

Deep garnet red. The nose recalls dried cherries, plums and raisins, with sweet spice, cocoa and a hint of tobacco. The palate is full-bodied and velvety, with ripe tannins, warm alcohol balanced by freshness and a long, spicy finish.

About this wine

Zenato is a family winery founded by Sergio Zenato in 1960 on the southern shore of Lake Garda, and today one of the best-known names of the Valpolicella. Its Amarone is the house's flagship red, made from the native varieties of the Veronese hills, led by Corvina and Rondinella.

As tradition requires, the best bunches are picked by hand and left to dry for several months before pressing, a process called appassimento that concentrates sugar, colour and aroma. The wine then ages at length in oak, emerging rich, velvety and powerful, with great potential for further cellaring.
