Tasting notes

Bright ruby red. Red cherry and plum on the nose with spice and a touch of liquorice root. Fresh and fruity on the palate, medium-bodied, with supple tannins and a lightly spiced finish.

About this wine

Tenuta Sallier de La Tour is an estate in the Monreale area, in the Jato valley near Palermo, run by the Tasca d'Almerita family since 2008.

Nero d'Avola, Sicily's best-known red grape, grows here on hillsides with a long ripening season and low yields per hectare, on soils with a balanced mix of clay, sand and silt. About 30% of the wine matures in second- and third-use French oak barriques from Allier and Tronçais, while the rest stays in stainless steel.

The result is a fresh, fruity young red with a spicy edge and good ageing potential.
