Tasting notes

Ruby colour. The nose offers wild strawberries, small red berries and a hint of clove. The palate is fresh and juicy, with grainy tannins and touches of tobacco and blackcurrant, closing on a precise, clean finish.

About this wine

Château de Pez is a historic Saint-Estèphe estate whose roots go back to 1452, owned since 1995 by the Champagne house Louis Roederer. Second de Pez is its second wine, made from the younger vines planted on gravel hillsides over a clay-limestone base.

The 2019 blends 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot and spends 12 months in French oak barrels, 30% of them new. It is conceived as the more relaxed, fruit-driven face of the appellation, ready to enjoy in its youth.
