Tasting notes

Deep garnet colour. Aromas of cherry, cinnamon and liquorice, dried fruit, cocoa and tobacco. The palate is dense and full-bodied, with well-integrated tannins, ripe fruit and a long, warming finish.

About this wine

Tenuta Santa Maria di Gaetano Bertani is a family winery in Negrar, in the heart of Valpolicella Classica, run by Giovanni and Guglielmo Bertani and a member of FIVI, the federation of independent winegrowers.

For this Amarone the grapes, 74% Corvina, 13% Corvinone and 13% Rondinella, are dried for about three months on bamboo racks before fermenting in stainless steel. The dry, low-rainfall 2017 vintage then aged 66 months in large Slavonian oak casks and six months in bottle, giving a dense, full-bodied red of 16% with well-integrated tannins.
