Tasting notes

Garnet-tinged ruby. The nose shows red cherry, dried rose, liquorice and sweet spice with hints of tar. The palate is full-bodied and warm, with firm, ripe tannins, fresh acidity and a long, persistent finish.

About this wine

Prunotto was founded in Alba in 1923, when Alfredo Prunotto took over the Antiche Cantine Ojo di Langa, and it became one of the first Piedmont houses to bottle wines from single crus. Since the late 1980s the estate has been in the hands of the Antinori family, who have invested in their own vineyards across the Langhe.

This Barolo is made entirely from Nebbiolo grown within the Barolo zone. After fermentation it ages for a long period in oak casks, followed by refinement in bottle, as the appellation requires.

The 2015, from a warm and generous vintage, offers ripe fruit within Barolo's classic frame of tannin and acidity.
