Tasting notes

Deep ruby colour. The nose shows ripe blackcurrant, black cherry and plum with Mediterranean herbs, cedar and sweet spice. The palate is rich and silky, with refined, well-integrated tannins, fine structure and a long, elegant finish that promises excellent ageing.

About this wine

"Argentiera" is the flagship wine of Tenuta Argentiera, an estate near Castagneto Carducci whose vineyards slope down towards the Tuscan coast at 160 to 200 metres above sea level. The first vintage of this wine was 2003.

Grapes are hand-picked from marl and schist soils. The blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc is aged for 14 months in French barriques, half of them new, followed by about a year in bottle.

Ripened under the September sun, the 2018 is rich and silky with refined structure and the depth to develop for many years.
