Tasting notes

Deep garnet-ruby. The nose shows cherry and black fruit with rose petals, violet and hints of cedar from the oak. Structured and refined on the palate, with silky tannins, fresh acidity and a long, elegant finish.

About this wine

Château Cantemerle is a Grand Cru Classé of the 1855 classification, located in the southern part of the Médoc peninsula. Of its 200 hectares of land, 98 are planted with vines on deep gravel soils. For centuries the estate belonged to the Villeneuve and Dubos families, and since 1981 it has been owned by SMA BTP.

The wine blends Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot and is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, 40% of them new.

The excellent 2016 vintage gives a structured, refined Haut-Médoc with silky tannins, already a pleasure to drink yet with fine ageing potential.
