Tasting notes

Purple-red colour. The nose shows red berries with touches of black pepper, mint, vanilla and chocolate. The palate is soft and juicy, with supple tannins and a lightly fruity finish.

About this wine

Château d'Orsan is a historic estate in the Gard, in the southern Rhône Valley, where vines were grown even before the 14th-century castle was built. Its cuvée Monopole is a classic Côtes du Rhône led by Syrah, completed by Grenache, Cinsault and Mourvèdre.

The grapes ferment for 15 to 20 days in concrete vats, and the wine then rests six months in stainless steel, with no oak to mask the fruit. The result is a juicy, elegant red that is delicious young yet able to age for a few years.
