Tasting notes

Deep ruby. Fresh red and black fruit such as black cherry and cassis on the nose. Round and youthful on the palate, with soft, ripe tannins and a long finish. With age it will develop notes of forest floor, leather and truffle.

About this wine

Château Gazin is a 26-hectare estate in Pomerol, set on a clay-gravel plateau with blue clay and iron-rich subsoil, right next to Petrus. The land was once farmed by the Knights Templar, and since 1917 the estate has belonged to the de Bailliencourt dit Courcol family.

The 2016 blends 87% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc, aged 18 months in oak barrels, 55% of them new. Some 85,000 bottles were made of this round, youthful Pomerol, which will develop notes of forest floor, leather and truffle over the years.
