How to serve it
Tasting notes
Deep ruby. A complex nose of dark fruit, flowers and spice. The palate has a rounded attack with notes of leather, lightly smoked wood and roasted tones, fine tannins and an elegant, lingering finish.
About this wine
Château Pape Clément is a Grand Cru Classé de Graves in Pessac, whose vineyard was planted in the 13th century by Bertrand de Goth, Archbishop of Bordeaux, who became Pope Clement V in 1305. Today the estate belongs to Bernard Magrez.
The grapes are sorted by hand berry by berry and fermented in wooden vats with manual punching down of the cap; malolactic fermentation takes place in barrel, followed by 18 months in French oak.
The 2016 blends Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc from a great Bordeaux vintage.
