Tasting notes

Deep ruby with violet reflections. The nose offers plum, blackberry, black cherry and blueberry, with clove, black pepper, liquorice and dark chocolate. The palate is powerful yet soft, with silky tannins and a long finish. The American oak adds a touch of sweet spice.

About this wine

Firriato is the Di Gaetano family winery based in Paceco, near Trapani, farming around 490 hectares of certified organic vineyards across several estates from western to eastern Sicily.

Nero d'Avola "Chiaramonte" comes from the Dàgala Borromeo estate, at about 230 metres, with south exposure and clay soils with red marl. The grapes are hand-picked in the third week of September and fermented in temperature-controlled steel, then the wine ages for six months in American oak barriques.

It is a powerful yet soft Nero d'Avola, here in a practical 375 ml half bottle.
