Tasting notes

Deep ruby. Red and black fruit, spice, rose and peony, developing towards light tobacco and tea with age. The body is finely structured and fleshy, with a characteristic minty touch and a long finish. Decant before serving to let the bouquet open fully; the wine can keep ageing for years.

About this wine

This Grand Cru comes from Domaine du Clos Frantin, one of Albert Bichot's estates in the Côte de Nuits. The Pinot Noir vines, 35 to 40 years old, grow on brown limestone soil with limestone scree and face east-south-east.

The wine is aged for 16 to 18 months entirely in oak barrels, 40 to 50 percent of them new. The 2016 vintage earned high praise from leading critics, including 93 points from Wine Spectator and 17.5/20 from Jancis Robinson.
