Tasting notes

Deep purple. Aromas of blackberry, blueberry, violet, black olive, black pepper and a hint of smoked meat. The palate is medium-bodied and fresh, with ripe dark fruit, fine tannins and a savoury, peppery finish.

About this wine

E. Guigal was founded in 1946 by Étienne Guigal in Ampuis, at the foot of the Côte-Rôtie slopes, and has become the reference name of the Rhône Valley, from legendary single-vineyard wines to benchmark village appellations.

Crozes-Hermitage is the largest appellation of the northern Rhône, surrounding the famous hill of Hermitage. Guigal's red is made entirely from Syrah and aged in oak, showing the variety's dark fruit, violet and black-pepper character with a fresh, savoury finish from the cool 2021 vintage.
