Tasting notes

Bright ruby red. The nose is classically Burgundian, with wild strawberry, morello cherry and rose petal giving way to undergrowth and a wisp of pepper. The palate is silky and precise, the tannins fine-grained and the acidity fresh, leading to a savoury finish where red fruit and stony minerality linger side by side.

About this wine

The Clos de la Servoisine is the vineyard most closely associated with Domaine Joblot, a walled Premier Cru site on the clay-limestone slopes above Givry that the family has farmed for decades. It is often the first wine people taste from the estate, and the one that converted many sceptics to the Côte Chalonnaise.

Pinot Noir is destemmed and fermented with a long maceration, then aged in oak barrels for around a year. The winemaking is deliberately restrained, letting the cool, stony character of the clos come through.

Silky, perfumed and remarkably complete, it drinks well young and ages gracefully.
