Tasting notes

Bright ruby. Red berries, wild strawberry, rose, Mediterranean herbs and smoky volcanic stone on the nose. The palate is fine-boned and juicy, with silky tannins, vivid acidity and a long, mineral finish that lingers on red fruit and spice.

About this wine

Tenuta delle Terre Nere was founded by Marco de Grazia on the northern slope of Mount Etna, near Randazzo, where the estate farms its vineyards organically. Its single-contrada wines have helped show how much the black volcanic soils of the mountain change from one plot to the next.

San Lorenzo is one of the estate's high-altitude contrade. This Etna Rosso is made from Nerello Mascalese grown on terraces of volcanic sand and stone, and it is aged in French oak.

The result is a refined, fragrant red with a strong mineral imprint and fine tannins, among the most elegant of the estate's crus and a wine that will continue to grow in bottle for many years.
