Tasting notes

Deep ruby with violet glints. Ripe yet lively dark fruit on the nose, with cinnamon, cocoa and liquorice. The palate is full and long, warm but balanced by a fresh, savoury note on the finish.

About this wine

Cantine Due Palme is a cooperative from Cellino San Marco in Salento, bringing together around a thousand local growers. Founder Angelo Maci inherited a small cellar from his grandfather Ettamiano, and this wine is named after him.

The Primitivo grapes are left to over-ripen on the vine and hand-picked from early September in vineyards between Brindisi and Lecce, on red clay and limestone soils. After a short stay in second- and third-use French barriques, the wine rests in bottle. Ripe yet lively, it shows cinnamon, cocoa and liquorice with a full, long palate.
