Tasting notes

Bright ruby red. The nose offers Mediterranean herbs, red berries and black tea with fine balsamic hints. The palate is medium-bodied and elegant, with silky tannins, good freshness and a savoury, gently spiced finish.

About this wine

Ca' Marcanda is the Gaja family's Tuscan estate in Bolgheri, founded in 1996. The name comes from Piedmontese dialect and means "the house of endless negotiations", a reminder of the long effort it took to buy the land.

"Magari" means "if only" in Italian, a playful name for a serious wine made from Bordeaux varieties grown on the Tuscan coast: Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, raised in the estate's cellar near Castagneto Carducci.

The 2018 is a fresh, elegant expression of Bolgheri, with Mediterranean character and fine-grained structure.
