Tasting notes

Deep ruby with purple glints. A complex nose of wild red berries and blackcurrant, lifted by black pepper and sweet spice. Warm and round on the palate, with soft tannin, moderate acidity and a long finish on dark fruit, liquorice and Mediterranean herbs.

About this wine

Ferro 13 is the project of four Italian friends who pick vineyards in several regions of the country and give every wine its own personality.

Hipster is the alter ego of Gabriele Stringa, the creative member of the team, and sets the tradition of Puglia against a contemporary style. The Negroamaro is harvested in two passes — once at full aromatic ripeness and once when the fruit is overripe — with each lot vinified separately before the blend rests in tank ahead of bottling.

That double picking is what gives the wine its combination of fresh red fruit and darker, almost raisined depth.
