Tasting notes

Deep ruby, dense in the glass. Ripe black cherry, plum and blackberry on the nose, with liquorice, tobacco leaf and a hint of sweet spice. Full and warm on the palate, with soft, slightly chewy tannin and moderate acidity, finishing on dark fruit and cocoa.

About this wine

Amarne is a Montepulciano d'Abruzzo from Idi di Marzo, bottled from the 2021 harvest. Montepulciano is the dominant red variety of Abruzzo, grown on the hills between the Apennines and the Adriatic, where warm days and cool mountain nights let the fruit ripen fully without losing acidity.

The variety gives deeply coloured wines with substantial but rounded tannin and a dark, plummy fruit profile. In this region it is the everyday red of the table rather than a wine built for long cellaring.

Served slightly below room temperature, it suits robust, straightforward cooking better than delicate dishes.
