Tasting notes

Deep ruby red with violet hints and good brightness. The nose balances red and dark fruit with floral notes of violet. The palate is medium-bodied, with pleasant freshness, moderate tannins and a clean, fruity finish that makes it a versatile food wine.

About this wine

Il Guardiano is the entry wine of Poggio Mandorlo, an estate in Seggiano, in the upper Maremma, at the foot of the extinct volcano Monte Amiata. It has been made since the 2009 vintage from vineyards planted in 2001 and 2002 at around 400 metres above sea level on marly soils of sandstone and limestone, with the grapes picked and selected by hand.

The blend is Sangiovese and Merlot, aged for 18 months in steel without any wood to keep the fruit pure and fresh.

It is a versatile Tuscan red for the table, with medium structure, pleasant freshness and gentle tannins.
