Tasting notes

Ruby red. An intense yet delicate nose of dried fruit, tobacco and vanilla. The palate is dry and full-bodied, with pleasant, well-defined tannins, a savoury Mediterranean character and a long finish where the spicy notes from chestnut ageing return.

About this wine

Tenuta Iuzzolini is an estate in Cirò Marina, in the province of Crotone on the Ionian coast of Calabria, with around 100 hectares of vineyards and an underground cellar built from restored local stone and 18th-century bricks.

Maradea is a Riserva from the historic Cirò Classico zone, made from 100% Gaglioppo grown at Timpa Bianca, close to the sea. It ages for 12-14 months in barrels of Calabrian chestnut and then four months in bottle, a traditional local choice that gives it a distinctive, savoury character.
