Tasting notes

Bright red with purple glints. The nose is all spice and wild berries. The palate is fresh, with good acidity and steady tannins, finishing on black pepper and blackcurrant.

About this wine

Morandina comes from Graziano Prà's high vineyards in Mezzane and Tregnago above Verona, planted in 2001 at 450 metres with south-east exposure on limestone soils.

The grapes are lightly dried for about 20 days, fermented in steel and then rest for three to six months in 20-hectolitre Allier oak casks. The grower himself describes it as the freshest and most peppery expression of his mountain reds.

Vibrant and food-friendly, it shows how altitude gives Valpolicella energy and spice, and it is best served slightly chilled.
