Tasting notes

Ruby red. An intense, complex nose of ripe cherry and plum with bitter cocoa and liquorice. The palate is powerful yet elegant, with lifted freshness, firm tannins shaped by altitude and limestone, and a long, warm, spicy finish.

About this wine

Graziano Prà's Amarone comes from organically farmed vineyards in Mezzane and Tregnago, in the hills above Verona, planted in 2001 at 450 metres with south-east exposure on limestone soils.

Only the best bunches are dried on racks for two months, then fermented in steel using the délestage method. The wine ages for two years in tonneaux and barrels, one year in 20-hectolitre Allier oak casks and a final year in bottle.

Powerful yet elegant, it keeps a freshness and tannic grip that come from altitude and limestone, a mountain-grown take on Valpolicella's greatest wine.
