Tasting notes

Deep purple-red with a violet tinge. The nose opens with wild berries and develops towards spice, vanilla and balsamic notes. The palate is warm, velvety and complex, with a firm structure, ripe tannins and a long finish that promises excellent ageing potential.

About this wine

Tenuta Iuzzolini is an estate in Cirò Marina, in the province of Crotone on the Ionian coast of Calabria, with around 100 hectares of vineyards and an underground cellar built from restored local stone and 18th-century bricks.

Paternum is one of the estate's leading wines: 100% Magliocco from very low yields, hand-harvested at the end of October, with only around 4,000 bottles produced each year. It ages for 24-30 months in French barriques and a further four months in bottle, building a powerful structure and great ageing potential.
