Tasting notes

Intense, dark, almost impenetrable ruby red. The nose shows blackberry, plum and raspberry with spice, vanilla, tobacco and liquorice. The palate is structured, rich and voluminous, balancing freshness and firm tannins, with a long, deep finish.

About this wine

Pieluni is the great Riserva of Illuminati, the Controguerra estate founded in 1890 as Fattoria Nicò, and one of the benchmark wines of the Colline Teramane, the top area for Montepulciano in Abruzzo. It is produced only in the best vintages.

Made from Montepulciano, it is an intense, dark, almost impenetrable ruby red, with blackberry, plum and raspberry joined by spice, vanilla, tobacco and liquorice. The palate is structured, rich and voluminous, balancing freshness and tannins.

A long-lived red that keeps improving with age.
