Tasting notes

Deep ruby red. The nose is broad and deep, with ripe dark fruit and notes of Mediterranean scrub. The palate is intense yet soft, with smooth tannins and a pleasant lightness that keeps it fresh and easy to enjoy, ending on a savoury, herbal finish.

About this wine

Tenuta Argentiera lies in Castagneto Carducci, in the heart of Bolgheri on the Tuscan coast. "Poggio ai Ginepri" comes from west-facing vineyards at 20–80 metres above sea level, planted on red aeolian sands near Donoratico.

The blend is 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot. The grapes are hand-picked and each variety ferments separately in steel tanks.

Half of the wine then matures in used 225-litre French barriques and half in steel, before further rest in bottle, giving a supple and approachable Bolgheri red.
