Tasting notes

Deep ruby with violet glints. Marasca cherry, wild berries and plum lead the nose, joined by rhubarb, clove, liquorice and tobacco leaf. The palate is soft and full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long, warm, gently spicy finish.

About this wine

Santagostino Baglio Sorìa Rosso is Firriato's Mediterranean blend from the Baglio Sorìa estate in the province of Trapani, close to the western coast of Sicily. Its hillside vineyards at around 200 metres grow on calcareous clay and red marl soils that keep moisture even in dry summers.

Nero d'Avola and Syrah are blended and aged for eight months in American oak barriques, bringing together ripe Sicilian fruit, warm spice and a balanced, structured frame.

The 2015 vintage in magnum, a format that lets the wine mature slowly and gracefully, makes a striking centrepiece for a festive table or a long dinner with friends.
