Tasting notes

Deep ruby red. The nose shows black cherry, blackcurrant and small black fruits with a hint of Mediterranean herbs. The palate is rich yet fresh, with ripe fruit, smooth tannins and a long, elegant finish. A refined, balanced and elegant Sicilian red with fine length.

About this wine

Zisola is the Sicilian estate of the Mazzei family near Noto, in the south-east of the island. Its flagship red is made entirely from Nero d'Avola, the signature grape of Sicily.

The grapes come only from traditional alberello, or bush-trained, vines around Noto. The nearby sea and the limestone-rich soils temper the natural richness of the variety, adding freshness and elegance.

Generous yet balanced, with black cherry, blackcurrant and dark berry fruit, it is a refined expression of Nero d'Avola from its homeland.
