Tasting notes

Intense ruby red. Fresh, crunchy fruit on the nose, with mineral and spicy notes. Medium-bodied, with red berries and elegant, silky, very soft tannins; the finish is precise, clean and lively.

About this wine

Il Seggio is the Bolgheri Rosso of Poggio al Tesoro, Marilisa Allegrini's estate on the Tuscan coast. The 2019 blends 50% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot from the Via Bolgherese and Le Sondraie vineyards, on clay soils rich in large alluvial pebbles.

The grapes were destemmed, softly pressed and fermented in temperature-controlled steel tanks; malolactic fermentation took place in barrique, followed by 15 months in French oak barriques (30% new). The estate rates 2019 as one of the best vintages of the last 15 years. This listing is the 2019 vintage.
