About this wine

CastelGiocondo is the Brunello di Montalcino of Frescobaldi's Tenuta CastelGiocondo, where varied exposures and soils of galestro, clay and Pliocene sand give a Brunello of many layers.

The 2018 was fermented in temperature-controlled steel with frequent pump-overs, matured in large oak casks, refined in bottle and released five years after the harvest. Intense, bright ruby red, it shows blueberry, blackberry and black currant, violet and rosehip, then black pepper, cardamom and liquorice; the tannins are dense but smooth, with fine minerality and a long finish.
