Tasting notes

Bright, intense ruby red. The nose is dominated by ripe red fruit and wild berries, accompanied by elegant floral notes and a touch of sweet spice. The palate is full yet elegant, with a dense tannic texture, balanced acidity and a long, warm finish.

About this wine

Castelgiocondo is the Frescobaldi family's estate in Montalcino, one of the largest in the appellation, with vineyards spread over different exposures and soils of galestro, clay and Pliocene sands. This diversity gives the winemakers a palette of Sangiovese parcels to blend.

The grapes are picked by hand and fermented in stainless steel with a long maceration. The wine then matures in wooden casks before a further period in bottle, and is released only five years after the harvest, as Brunello tradition requires.

This half bottle makes a great Brunello practical for a dinner for two.
